While traveling to the Outer Banks in May, I got a little speeding ticket in the small town of Hertford, NC. I was given the court date or an option of today to come and talk to the District Attorney about my case. Bill and I both had the morning off, so we decided to take a nice drive over there to take care of things. The town is very charming and full of history. The courthouse was interesting as when you walk in the door to the old building the sign pointing to the left was "holding cell" and the right was restrooms. I am glad I didn't get those mixed up!
The DA and the sheriff were there and talked to me about my infraction and reduced it down to where I didn't get points off my license and reduced the fee a bit. When I was leaving I asked the Sheriff if that was all and he said that he needed to make a call to the jail to see what weekend I needed to be there. HAHA! I joked back that only if I get to wear a pink jumpsuit :-). We walked around downtown a bit and stopped in some of the shops and grabbed lunch. We have driven through this town numerous times but never stopped in the downtown. Lesson learned...slow down :-).....take time to enjoy what beautiful NC has to offer!!

How far away is this town? It sounds like somewhere I'd love to take my parents!
It is about 2 hours from here...About 10 minutes from Edenton which is another small town right on the water!
Probally too late for this visit--sorry :-(
